From my first time, my love of spa treatments grew to day spas, and hotel spas on trips, it was only a matter of time before I started to think about destination spas. I subscribed to all sorts of spa and travel magazines, collecting ideas for my next trips to Vegas, Florida, California, Dublin, London, etc. So, it was the October 2007 issue of Travel and Leisure that featured a “Top 15 Destinations Spa”. Number one at the time, and the pictures] featured at the time was Mii Amo, a Destination Spa at Enchantment in Sedona, Arizona. I saved the article, and a few years later I had the opportunity to go to Mii Amo for the first time. In those intervening years, I got to thinking that I wanted to go to all the Spas on the List someday. So that became the original #SpaBucketList. Over the years the Top Spas based on Travel and Leisure, as well as Conde Naste Traveler have changed rankings and of course Conde Naste Traveler has an extensive list of not only Destination, but also hotel and resort spas all over the world. In fact in reviewing their June 2012, listing, I realized I had in fact hit a few on the list. And So the #SpaBucketList began to emerge. Over the years I have added to it, less so with official lists and rankings (as they ass seem to be the same contenders, just vying for different rankings), but with write-ups and features in articles from a variety of magazines.
And so here is my running list. It is by no means complete, and changes all the time. I have noted which spas I have actually visited and you can see my reviews and leave your own comments, or you for those I haven’t been to, I welcome comments, ideas and votes towards where my next visit should be. 😉 Hope to see you at one soon!
